Derozan Heads To Chi Town As Chicago Enhances Its Playoff Chances

Bulls-Spurs orchestrate sign-and-trade deal involving DeMar DeRozan

DeRozan heads to Chi-town as Chicago enhances its playoff chances

Thaddeus Young, Al-Farouq Aminu, and draft compensation make their way to San Antonio for the veteran All-Star

The Chicago Bulls have made a significant move to bolster their roster for the upcoming season, acquiring All-Star guard DeMar DeRozan from the San Antonio Spurs via a sign-and-trade agreement.

In exchange for DeRozan, the Spurs will receive forwards Thaddeus Young and Al-Farouq Aminu, along with the Bulls' 2025 first-round draft pick and the 2022 and 2023 second-round draft picks.

DeRozan, a four-time All-Star, spent the first nine seasons of his career with the Toronto Raptors, becoming a beloved figure within the organization. He was traded to the Spurs in 2018 and has since averaged 21.6 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game in San Antonio.

The addition of DeRozan gives the Bulls a much-needed boost to their backcourt, alongside young star Zach LaVine. DeRozan's ability to create his own shot and get to the rim will open up the offensive options for Chicago.

This move signals the Bulls' intention to compete for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. After missing out on the postseason in recent years, the Bulls are hoping that the addition of DeRozan will help them turn the corner.
